RPG, or role-playing game, is a type of game where players take on the roles of characters in a fictional setting and make decisions based on their characters' abilities and personalities. These games often have a strong emphasis on story and character development, and players are often given a large degree of freedom to shape their characters and their stories. RPG's have a wide variety of settings and themes, from fantasy worlds filled with magic and monsters, to post-apocalyptic wastelands, to space operas. Some examples of RPG's include Dungeons and Dragons, World of Warcraft, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and Skyrim.

The players generally take on the role of a specific character, with specific abilities and skills, and they go on a quest or adventure, that is usually guided by a Game Master or a storyteller. This is a different from other games where the player is a generic character or an avatar, and the gameplay is mostly based on their physical or tactical skills.
